Today marks one week since Dudley came to us as a foster in our home. Dudley was found in abandoned lot after being used as a bait dog, having hot black tar poured on his wounds and what was obviously a horrible past. Dudley's large, heavy collar was also embedded into his neck.
We went to meet Dudley at the Philadelphia Animal Control facility where he was taken after being found. The shelter staff could not say enough great things about Dudley and it didn't take long for us to realize ourselves just what a great boy he is, regardless of all he had been put through.
Dudley arrived in the afternoon of 7.8.2011 to his foster home and shortly after started coughing, he had kennel cough. After 1 week in his foster home he was taken to the vet to check on his kennel cough and well being, he was very frightened but was a very good boy! Sadly in addition to Dudley's visible wounds on his face and neck and his kennel cough the vet also noticed that he has something wrong with his rear legs. It appears that Dudley either lived his life kenneled 24 hours a day or sustained an injury that went without treatment. We will never know what Dudley endured in his past but we do know we certainly love him a lot! Once Dudley recovers from his kennel cough and puts on some weight he will go for x-rays to determine what is wrong with his rear legs.
It has been a very busy week since Dudley's arrival but we plan to update his blog so that we can share his journey from being used as a bait dog to being where he belongs -with a loving family.
